In this world, our eyes, ears, taste buds, and minds are easily influenced by our busy surroundings. It is one of the reasons why we often feel tired. It is perhaps a good idea to guide children to develop an effective habit of winding themselves down in preparation for stress-loaded adulthood. In fact, younger children innately prefer calming sounds. The fondness of loud sounds is a habit acquired over time, and it is not innate. Practising meditation once or twice a day, accompanied by calming sounds such as the ‘Amituofo’ chanting recording below and the gentle and decaying sound of bells for meditation, is a good way of guiding children to return to their innate inner tranquillity and cultivate a sustainable mind. We adults will also benefit much from it.
