Keeping an eye on students’ health is natural to a conscientious teacher. A few weeks ago, I noticed that quite a few children in my class had dry, chapped lips. It is a sign of dehydration. Perhaps for many parents and fellow teachers, the first remedy that comes into their minds is drinking water, or eating fresh fruit as we have heard much about the goodness of fruit.
But, did you know that neither water nor fruit is the best remedy for dehydration. Instead, it is the combination of the two that provides one of the best remedies, i.e., fruit soup. It is utterly delicious. Some of my friends and colleagues did tell me that they cannot stand the taste of cooked fruit. But still, you could perhaps try the remedy for your children and see if they like it. It is really easy to make.
Ingredients:
400 ml of water
2 smallish tangerines
2 medium-sized apples
3 smallish apricots
1 medium-sized pear
Method:
1. Slice the fruits into thinnish slices.
2. Put them all in a soup bowl of about 500-700 ml.
3. Add water to the bowl.
4. Put the bowl in a biggish saucepan with a lid.
5. Add water to the saucepan until surface of the water is about 3 cm away from the brink of the bowl.
6. Cover the saucepan with the lid.
7. Turn on the hob and bring the water to boil.
8. Set the hob to medium heat and leave the water boiling for 20 to 30 minutes. Please make sure that there is enough water in the saucepan.
9. Turn off the hob and leave the saucepan to cool for about 10 minutes.
10. Serve the soup.
